Safe on the other side

“O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee? Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.” (Psa 89:8-9)

“Safe On The Other Side” is a new song for the new year. A scratch recording of a simple song, but such a blessing at just the right time for my wife and me. I know that I am not a great song writer, but my purpose is not for accolades or attaboys. My purpose, my reason is to honor The Lord God with my words. Wether I write or speak or sing I want what proceeds from my heart to exalt The Lord.

I chose long ago to sing and write songs of His mercy and kindness. Jesus Christ IS the mercy of God to all of mankind–that is, for everyone male, female, young and old, Christ died and rose again for us all “that whosoever believes in him should not parish but have everlasting life.” “Woe is me if I preach not (don’t proclaim) The Gospel.”

So about this new song I have written and lightly produced. I was tasked with the Home Studio Corner VIP member challenge of writing 5 new songs in two months. Will I finish? I don’t know but that’s inconsequential. My wife has been under a lot of stress about work and had applied for a transfer. She got the interview and then didn’t know what to decide because she is loyal and doesn’t want to disappoint anyone. We have both been going through a dark and stormy time together for the past year or so and the start of this new year has been very difficult. I had finished this song when she came to me asking what I thought she should do. I reminded her that we and many other people have been praying and now she was offered the position. So we should consider it the mercy and willingness of God and go with it.

Then I played the new song for her and it was a perfect comfort for our situation. As I have worked on the production I have had many doubts about wether anyone would like it. Well, that doesn’t matter. What does matter and what the song reminds me of is that The Holy Spirit ministered to our hearts and eased our minds. As it states in the verses below; when Jesus got into the boat immediately the ship was safe at their destination.

“And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?” (Mar 4:37-40)

“And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.” (Luk 8:24)

“And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea, And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them. And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew. So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid. But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid. Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.” (Joh 6:16-21)
